HOT TIPS FOR SUMMER HAIR!

The hottest look for this summer, reports The Wall Street Journal is "Beach Hair," an unkempt tousled, stringy look that is achieved with hairsprays made from actual sea water. O.K. fine, if that's what you like. But at the risk of sounding unhip, we have to say that salt does a number on your hair and scalp that goes beyond the stiffening and thickening effect. It also dries the scalp and hair. Beach heads can get the same effect without the damage by using Franklin Philip's New PUMP IT UP! Volumizing Mist ($12.99) or our Peridot Shaping Gel($9.99)or our AquaMarine Weightless Gelle ($9.99). All of which are ALCOHOL FREE, and available on-line!

SO MUCH FOR STYLISTS A recent trade industry survey shows less than 1 in 10 women feel their hair looks exactly the way they want it after leaving the salon. The study also claims women spend a whopping 43 minutes a day thinking about their hair. (To be fair, men probably spend even more time wishing they HAD hair.)

TRADE SECRET ON SCISSORS REVEALED! If you're into haircutting scissors this is HOT! After much prodding, we finally got an expert to tell us the technical difference between Japanese shears and German makes. It seems the Germans "twist" their blades like a propeller thus enableing the scissors to stay sharp longer and keep cutting. As for the Japanese, they opt for scissors that are ultra sharp and far quieter than their German counterparts. At The Franklin Philip Salon we use both Japanese and German Shears, depending upon the hairs texture and style.
